A bit of history:

The New Orleans Shell Shockers are an American soccer team, founded in 2003. The team is a member of the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, and play in the Mid-South Division of the Southern Conference, against teams from Austin, Baton Rouge, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Jackson and Laredo. The name "Shell Shockers" comes from the team's sponsorship by the Shell Oil Company. The team's colors are green, black and white.

The Shell Shockers currently play their home games in Tad Gormley Stadium, a large multipurpose outdoor stadium located in City Park in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

For their first three years in the league, the Shell Shockers played their home games at the Pan American Stadium in New Orleans, which is also located in City Park. However, after their ground was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005[1], the Shell Shockers were forced to play at the Muss Bertolino Stadium in nearby Kenner, Louisiana. After their plight was featured in the international media, the Shell Shockers parent organisation pledged $1,000,000 (USD) to rebuild City Park. The team returned home in early 2008.
