A bit of history:
Founded on August 2, 2004, Club Deportivo Chivas USA is the sister team of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, popularly known as 'Chivas', Mexico's most beloved soccer club. Chivas USA, which celebrated its inaugural season as a Major League Soccer expansion team in 2005, brings a boldly different approach to the world of professional sports in the United States.
Chivas USA not only fields teams in Major League Soccer and the MLS Reserve Division - it also runs such innovative programs such as the Chivas USA Futbol Academies and other soccer education initiatives; the ChivaTown fan zone, the ChivaGirls dance team and other aspects of Chivas USA's uniquely passionate gameday experience; and the Fundación Chivas de Corazón USA, the team's own 501(c)3 non-profit organization, as well as other community outreach programs and initiatives.

In 2005, its inaugural season in Major League Soccer, Chivas USA set the all-time standard for corporate sponsorship of an MLS club, attracting such international blue-chip brands as Honda, McDonald's, The Home Depot and Chivas Regal. It sold more jerseys than any other club in Major League Soccer, while filling the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with 90,000 passionate fans during the Doble Clasico, registering the second-highest attendance in the history of MLS.
The 2006 season looks even brighter for Chivas USA: Led by Bob Bradley, the winningest head coach in the history of Major League Soccer, and with a roster of Chivas USA veterans and new stars, the team will continue to reach new heights and push the boundaries of soccer in the United States.
Based in Carson, California, Chivas USA is owned by Mexican entrepreneurs Jorge Vergara Madrigal, owner of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, and business partner Antonio Cué Sánchez-Navarro, who serves as Chivas USA's president.
The official colors of Chivas USA are red and white, the same as Club Deportivo Guadalajara, worn in vertical stripes on the team's jersey with blue shorts and blue socks.
