A bit of history:

Benoni Premier United FC in Johannesburg has been acquired by the South African company Thanda Star Academy and its new home arena will be in Durban. The club changed its name to Thanda Royal Zulu FC after receiving the name approval from the Premier Soccer league (PSL) on october 2007.

The name change to Thanda Royal Zulu FC is a logical consequence of the club’s new home arena: the ABSA Stadium at Kings Park, Durban.

The name Thanda Royal Zulu emanates from an existing project driven by the Thanda Group that involves private enterprise, the Zulu Monarch and the Zulu Nation. Utilising the name for the club launches the brand into the main stream South African public, particularly the Zulu Nation and supporters from KwaZulu Natal.

Agreement has been reached with the Zulu Monarch, His Majesty King Zwelithini Goodwill kaBhekuzulu for the use of the name for the South Africa-Sweden partnership.
