A bit of history:
Zagłębie Lubin was founded on
September 10, 1945 as OMTUR Lubin. In 1946 the club was renamed to LKS Zawisza and playee in Polish lower leagues.
Lubin city was building up faster when the cooper mine was suppled. In 1966 the club was named Międzyzakładowy Klub Sportowy Zagłębie and sponsored by KGHM.
The beginning of 90s was the first success in the ‘Coopers’ history - Polish Chamionship.
In 2006/2007, after a very successful campaign, Zagłębie became league champions for a second time (its first title was in 1990/1991).
The following season, Zaglebie were forcibly relegated from the Ekstraklasa (top division) after it was found that their promotion to the Ekstraklasa in the 2004/2005 sesason had been tarnished by match-fixing.
