A bit of history:

The club was founded by resettled Poles from Lwów in 1945 as Budowlani Opole and club's logo is evoked one of Pogoń Lwów, who was the Polish team. The club changed his name to Odra Opole in 1953. First time Odra was promoted to Polsih top division in 1953 and next - between 1956-1958 (3 seasons), and between 1960-1966 (7 seasons), 1967-1970, 1971-1974 and 1976-1981 and Second League between 1951-1952 (2 seasons), 1954-1955 (2 seasons), in 1959, between 1966-1967, 1970-1971, 1974-1976, 1981-1984, 1985-1986, 1987-1988, 1997-2002 and 2006-2008. The best result was 3rd in 1963-64 season. Odra had financial problems in 90s. Relegated from Second League in 1997-98 season but readmitted by merging with Varta Namysłów. The club changed name to Odra/Varta Namysłów in 1998-99 season and next to Odra/Unia Opole in 2002 (after fussion with Unia Opole).
