A bit of history:
Polish team, Odra from Wodzisław Śląski was founded in 1922. Between 1933 and 1939 club played as Młodzież Powstańcza Wodzisław Śląski and it was defunct the day before the World War II.
After 1948 there was the fussion of teams from Wodzisław and Odra was reactivated (as KS Kolejarz). Another fussion in 1963, between Kolejarz and Górnik Wilchwy caused that KS Górnik Wilchwy-Wodzisław Śląski came to being.
Between 1965 and 1974 the club played as GKS Wodzisław Śląski and finally, in 1974 they changed back their name to GKS Odra Wodzisław Śląski.
The current name, MKS Odra, has been official since 1992.
3rd place in Polish top division 1996-97 is the greatest Odra’s success, the more there was the first season in Polish Ekstraklasa.
