A bit of history:
Lechia Gdańsk was founded after the World War II as KS Biura Odbudowy Portów ‘Baltia’. In 1946 the name was changed to KS Lechia Gdańsk (in memory of LKS Lechia from Polish Lwów before 1939) and 3 years later the club came out Polish first division. From 1950 to 1955 the team was playing as Budowlani Gdańsk and next the name was changed back to BKS Lechia Gdańsk.
Early 90s meant a slump for Lechia. First there was created a partnership FC Lechia SA in 1992, the club was worse and worse and finally Lechia was joined with Olimpia Poznań. The weir fussion existed only one season (1995-96) and caused downfall of booth teams.
2 years later another fusion had to save a football in Gdańsk. Lechia and Polonia Gdańsk was joined in 1998 and became a new team Lechia-Polonia SSA. In spite of declarations this marriage caused no successes and finally Lechia left Polonia in 2001.
Lechia was regenerated as Ośrodek Szkolenia Piłkarskiego and landed to sixth division but there wasn’t a death of this team. Lechia’s fans believe that there was started a new age in club’s history.
