A bit of history:
Olimpia Poznań was founded in 1945 as Milicyjny Klub Sportowy. 3 years later the club changed name to KS ZS Gwardia, cause it was related to a militia.
From 1957 to 1993 this football team played as GKS Olimpia Poznań. There were some changes in 1993 when Bolplast became a new owner of Olimpia and the name of this firm was added to club’s name. A fusion with Lechia Gdańsk was the first step to Olimpia’s death. Before a fusion the football team played in Polish first divison, after disruption of Olimpia and Lechia, the club landed in fourth division. KP Olimpia-Lechia was an exceptionally ephemeris because this fusion existed only one season (1995-96). The club was named TS Olimpia and played several years till 2005 when the football section was defunct.
