A bit of history:

The Club Cerro Porteño was founded in October 1st 1912 on the city of Asunción, capital of Paraguay. The club was named after the battle of Cerro Porteño (Porteño Hill), between paraguayans and argentinians (called porteños by it's enemies). The club's colours were the red and blue, representing the two dominant parties in Paraguay: Colorado (red) and Liberal (blue). The club's founders chosen these colours to represent an ideal of unity and friendship in Paraguay.

The club spent a long time of it's existence without a logo. On the shirt, Cerro Porteño would use sometimes a simple round-shaped initials on white. Later, somewhere on the 40's, this shirt badge would evolve to the club's logo, striped as it's shirt with the initials on the center, wich lasts until nowadays. On the 2005-2006 season the club used briefly a round shirt badge with the initials.
