A bit of history:

Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie, credited as N.E.C., NEC (or incorrectly NEC Nijmegen) is a Dutch football club founded in November 15, 1900.

The team's home ground is the 12,500 seater McDOS Goffertstadion. The club prides itself that it was born out of hard work and dedication and that the working-class founders started playing football not on any grass pitch but in the streets of Nijmegen. It was originally called 'Eendracht' meaning 'Unity' in Dutch. The team played well and in 1903, after a merger with the actual Nijmegen home team, their league status was assured.

The club has not won any major tournaments to date although they managed to attain runners-up placing in the KNVB Cup competition in 1973, 1983, 1994 and 2000. Some talented players include defenders Rob Wielaert and Björn van der Doelen as well as wingers Romano Denneboom and Tininho. Romano Denneboom was selected for the Dutch national team recently. The three star players are midfielder Edgar Barreto from Paraguay, who recently played in the 2006 World Cup, Andrzej Niedzielan from Poland and forward Brett Holman from Australia.

In 2004 the club's management sacked coach Johan Neeskens. Cees Lok took over, but resigned on 19 December 2005.
