A bit of history:

The team started out as the company team for Yamaha Motor Corporation in 1970 and played in the Japan Soccer League until it reorganized as the J. League at the end of 1992. They finished in 2nd place of the JFL 1st division, a division below the top flight, in 1993 and were promoted to the J1 league for 1994. The team welcomed Marius Johan Ooft as its manager, as well as the Brazilian national team captain Dunga and a number of foreign players to build a winning team. Dunga's football philosophy deeply influenced the club, initially as a player and currently as an advisor. Since 1997, the club has won a number of titles by relying on Japanese players instead of foreigners who may leave on a transfer during the middle of the Japanese football season. In 2002, the team won both stages of the championship, a first in J. League history.

The team's inspirational leader and talisman is Masashi Nakayama who is affectionately called Taicho, lit. captain, and Gon.

"Jubilo" means "delight" in Portuguese and Spanish. They named the club Jubilo with a great wish to provide joy and emotion to their supporters and all other people. The club color is saxe blue.

About the logo, the black paradise flycatcher, their club character bird, is called the "three-light bird" in Japanese since its song "tsuki-hi-hoshi-hoi-hoi-hoi" sounds like "the moon, the sun and a star" in Japanese. The three circles in the logo each represent the moon, the sun and a star . They also represent footballs.

The silhouette of black paradise flycatchers, our club character bird, and the moon, the sun and a star which are related to their song are located in the center. The design is intended to express a friendly feeling as its main theme. The shape of the emblem represents the history and tradition of the club.

Jubilo-kun, he motif is a black paradise flycatcher, the bird of the Shizuoka prefecture. His character is extremely bright and passionate as represented by the team name Jubilo or "delight". His sophisticated flight utilizing his tiny body symbolizes the image of Jubilo's speedy and tricky offense. His nickname is "Jubilo-kun".

Jubie-chan, born March 21, 2003, she hails from Hamamatsu City. Height: 163cm. Weight: 52kg. She was created as Jubilo-kun's girlfriend for the 10th anniversary of Jubilo joining the J. League.
