A bit of history:
"The Tribesmen" as Galway United are known won the FAI Cup in 1991, and Football League of Ireland Cup in 1985-86 and 1996-97. The clubs best league finish to date was runners up to Shamrock Rovers in 1985-86. They were First Division champions in 1992-93, runners-up in 1999 and won the First Division Shield in 1992-93 and 1996-97. In July 2007, the new 1,500 seater stand at Terryland Park was opened, increasing the seated capacity to 2,900.
