A bit of history:
KTP has long football traditions. The club, playing in the renamed Arto Tolsa Areena, has won two Finnish championships and four times the Finnish Cup. In 2000 Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat was playing in Veikkausliiga, but was relegated to Ykkönen and finally went into bankruptcy. Nowadays the club is playing in Kakkonen, which is 3th highest level of Finnish football. FC KooTeePee, which was originally a reserve team for KTP but became an independent club in 2000, is now playing in Veikkausliiga.
The all time cap and goal leader of KTP is Arto Tolsa (126 goals in 201 matches).
