Zhejiang Greentown Football Club is located in the Zhejiang Greentown Zhongtai football training base which is situated on the Taoyuan community, Zhongtai village, Yuhang district, Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province. In order to advance the development of Zhejiang football enterprise, Greentown Real Estate Group Co. ， Ltd has invested 130,000,000 RMB and drafted 216 mu to construct Zhejiang Greentown Zhongtai football training base. In April 2004, Greentown Football Club entered into the base. In September 2004, Zhejiang Greentown football school was formally open.
The Zhejiang Greentown Football Club was jointly established by Greentown Real Estate Group Co. ， Ltd, Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Football Association on January 15, 1998 as the first professional football club in Zhejiang Province. The Zhejiang Greentown Football Club has been established for the purpose of promoting Zhejiang football, changing the present situation of Zhejiang as “strong province in economic, the desert in football”, exploring the operation of professional football with market economy diligently, developing the football industry vigorously under the request for “the commercialized management, the standardized operation”. At present, the running range includes: advertisement management, ticket sale, television relay, fan product development, intangible asset development and so on.
The club's registered capital is 20 million RMB. In 2005, the club stockholder's rights carried on the change, which Zhejiang Greentown Real Estate Group Co. ， Ltd accounted for stock 96%; Zhejiang University accounted for the rest stock 4%.
In late 2000, Greentown Football Club purchased the Yanbian Aodong football team with large amount of money to start the Division B journey, and invited Gu Mingchang, Houghton , Li Bing and other domestic or foreign well-known coaches to teach successively. In 2001-2003 seasons, Greentown football team was separately eighth, seventh and tenth in Division B league. Especially in 2002 China FA Cup , the Greentown football team unprecedented advanced into first four as a dark horse .In 2004 took part in the Chinese football first-grade league's first match got 8th place among 17 teams. In 2005 season got 3rd place.2006 was the most meaningful year to Greentown club. In October 21, Zhejiang Bebei Greentown drew with Henan Jianye 1:1 in Zhengzhou and promoted to Chinese Super League at the last but one round, got the second place in league as the best result in history.
Greentown Football Club pays great attention to the result of the first string and the training of the reserved talented players. Since the club was established, it had successively set up the Greentown first string team, Greentown National Games team, U-19, U-17, U-15, U-13 professional teams and many unprofessional teenage teams. From July, 2000 to July, 2004, the club invested more than 10 million RMB, dispatched 30 young players, coaches to study and train in Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. At present, many of those players had been the members to enrich the first string team. In 2001, Greentown National Games team attended the ninth National Games on behalf of Zhejiang Province and historicity got to the final match.
