A bit of history:
On August 8th 1914, Fidalgo Football Club was founded in the neighbourhood of Madureira, city of Rio de Janeiro. It's colours were the purple and white.
Some years later, a group of traders of Madureira united to form a club with the name of the neighbourhood. At first they tried to buy Magno Football Club, but they did not succeed. Then they bought Fidalgo Football Club and on February 16th 1933 transformed it into Madureira Atlético Clube, joining the colours of Fidalgo and Magno (purple, blue and white). The official foundation date on it's statutes remained the one from Fidalgo.
In October 12th 1971 Madureira AC merged with locals Madureira Tênis Clube and Imperial Basquete Clube, changing it's name to Madureira Esporte Clube and the colours to blue (Madureira AC), maroon (Madureira TC) and yellow (Imperial BC). The logo of Madureira AC was mantained, only changing colours and initials.
